Association of Nepal (MAN) and International
Mathematical Olympiad (IMO)
Introduction - IMO
The International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO) is the world
championship mathematics competition for high school students and is held
annually in a differently country. The first IMO was held in 1959 in Romania,
with 7 countries participating. It has gradually expanded to over 117 countries
in 5 continents. The IMO board ensures that the competition takes place each

IMO.
National representation of Nepal:
Nepal has started its participation in this prestigious
championship since 2017 (Brazil) and continuously participating in every
following year. As a pride of matter Nepal won 4 Honorable Mentions till date.
Mathematical Association of Nepal (MAN) is the official representative
of IMO for Nepal.
Introduction – MAN:
Mathematical Association of Nepal (MAN), an official
representative of International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO), is a registered
non-profit voluntary organization of veteran Mathematicians from Universities,
Mathematics Trainers, Authors, Gold Medalists and Teachers. It has started its
activities from 2015 A.D. The main objective of MAN is to expose our national
talents in the global forum and enhance the qualities of our students in
mathematics. MOON aims to advance the level of children and young people in
mathematics. Further, to identify talent, foster a love of mathematics in all
academic level, and create the opportunity for national champions to compete in
international mathematics forum.
“I advise my students to listen carefully
the moment they decide to take no more math courses. They might be able to hear
the sound of closing doors.” -James Caballero
Primarily, it organizes the mathematics competitions in different phases from all over the country, mentoring schemes and trainings for high performing students and selects top six to represent Nepal in the International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO). It also runs the varieties of enrichment seminars, discussion activities and trainings in encouraging both learners and teachers. The person with good mathematics background excels in every aspect of society. Its mission is to inspire the next generations to involve in mathematical activities from very beginning of their academic life.
